Turtle Protectors/Mishiikenh Gizhaasowin is an Indigenous and volunteer led stewardship program that advocates, supports and protects turtles living in Toronto parks.

We are focused on reconciling human impacts upon our turtle relatives and sharing Indigenous ways of being in reciprocal relationship with all of our relations.

See a turtle? Call our Hotline! 📞🐢

If you see a turtle on land, or showing signs of distress in the water, please call our Hotline: 647-491-4057

We respond to calls about all turtles who are seen on land, including those that are injured, or deceased. We will send a volunteer to assist turtles crossing roads, protect nests and nesting mothers, and assist hatchings (baby turtles) to get safely to water.

“As people, we have an individual and collective responsibility to be in a good relationship with Mother Earth, just as well as being in a good relationship with ourselves and each other.”
