Good evening everyone,
We hope you all are having a good start to your week. This will be a brief email. Miigwetch everyone for all that you do to support turtles and more than human relatives!
As temperatures begin to cool, this affects turtles. Generally, cooler mornings and evenings (around 12 degrees) will slow down turtle hatchlings at this time of year. They are more likely to emerge from nests during the day when temperatures rise. If hatchlings emerge from a nest in the evening, they will likely hunker down in the grasses overnight until temperatures warm up the following day. Therefore, keep an eye out for hatchlings in the grasses when evenings are warm and temperatures have dropped overnight.

We are still waiting to hear back from MNRF after sending the list of volunteer names for the permit. We know some of you weren't able to complete the form before 4pm. We sent your names the following day. Unfortunately, this was a rushed situation over which we had no control regarding providing you all any notice. We will inform you once we receive a confirmation email from them.
Please continue to wear your shirt or borrow a vest during your shift, especially in Etienne Brule. Conservation Officers are regularly present due to the salmon run and illegal fishing.

I have attached a link to an article about a press release regarding housing from months ago, which Mark Carney, Doug Ford and Olivia Chow attended. During that release a woman named Chrissy Isaacs, who is suffering from mercury poisoning, was raising her voice to be heard at the meeting. Carney was caught on camera saying "I can outlast her.” All three politicians (Carney, Ford, and Chow) on the stage laughed. September 24th: Humber Bay - from 6pm to 7pm - meet at the Humber Bay East Parking lot at the beginning of the boardwalk
September 26: Brickworks - from 2pm, to 3pm - meet in front of the big pond
September 26th: Biidaasige - from 3:30pm to 5pm - meet at the firehall
September 30th: High Park - from 6pm to 7pm - meet at Grenadier Cafe
